명사 present의 뜻 – 투표에 대한 기권

​vote “present”, one’s “present” vote, answer “present” 등의 표현으로 쓰인다. 직역하면 재적만 했다는 뜻이지만 투표에 참석하지도 않은 not vote와는 다르다. 참석하고 있다는 사전적 의미와 구별하기 위해 큰따옴표로 둘러서 쓴다.

Members may abstain from voting on a measure because of a personal or pecuniary interest in the measure being considered and thus announce an intention to be recorded as “present” on the issue.
