미국의 미네소타 주에서는 pfas^{per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances}로 코팅된 주방 용품이나 치실 등을 살 수 없다. 미국 정부는 테플론 등을 재료로 한 주방 용품이 몸에 해롭지 않다고 하지만 미네소타 주의 의회는 the food and drug administration의 주장을 믿지 않는 모양이다. 합리적인 의심이다.

fda가 신도 아니고 완벽할 순 없다. 과학과 기술이 충분히 발전한 최근에도 오우피오이드라는 마약성 진통제에 대한 위험을 제대로 판단하지 못하여 많은 사람들이 피해를 입게 했다.
